What is Cognitive Connections Pathways ?

©

An individualized early learning program that helps children build the foundational skills needed to focus, follow directions, and succeed for reading and academic success. Developed by Julie Black, M.Ed., Edgewater Academics, and Kim Collins, M.Ed., YourThinkLink, educators with decades of combined experience in early childhood, cognitive instruction, and executive function development.

Who is it for?

  • Students preparing for kindergarten and first grade with strong potential to benefit from targeted readiness support.

  • Overwhelmed students who are hesitant or withdraw from academic tasks.

  • Early learners who may be vulnerable to future academic challenges.

How does it work?

  • Each child completes a brief one-to-one screening with the instructor.

  • Based on the results, we create an engaging, developmentally appropriate plan to target identified areas of need.

  • Students meet 1:1 with the instructor for 45-60 minutes, 2-3 times per week.

  • Sessions include science based, interactive activities to engage students through play.

  • Families receive clear feedback from student sessions and strategies to use at home.

What are the benefits?

  • Early support lays the groundwork for confident learning, helping children enter school equipped with the skills needed to succeed from day one.

  • Offers early detection of learning readiness strengths and needs.

  • Provides individualized teaching to strengthen areas such as visual and auditory processing, memory, and attention.
